We are proud to announce that our Water Footprint Compensation partner Act4Water has been shortlisted for the Global Water Challenge Award at Water Innovation Europe! As evaluation body and founding team member of Act4Water, we collaborate on this groundbreaking initiative. The awarding will take place 27th and 28th of October in Copenhagen. 

Act4Water is a partner initiative existing of Water Footprint Network, Cetaqua, Fundacion Aquae and Water Footprint Implementation.  

Act4Water Initiative guides organizations in reducing their water footprint and contributing to watershed restoration through the Act4Water Standard and Water Credits, driving measurable improvements in water stewardship and ecosystem resilience. 

It was created through hands-on testing, market research, and pilot projects. It tackles a key challenge: attracting private investment for water solutions by combining expertise in water sustainability, business, environmental law, and communication. 

It offers a practical and scalable model that makes achieving “water positivity” realistic, not just a goal. Like carbon offset programs, it creates a voluntary market with international certification and reliable impact measurement. 

The impact is already big with millions of cubic meters of water. But that amount is still growing! Its approach allows for additional projects to be implemented when and where they are needed, ensuring practical and responsive water stewardship. 

Act4Water helps strengthen water security by supporting projects that improve water availability and quality. The Standard promotes water sustainability by helping organizations create positive impact and work with local water projects to reduce their water footprint. 

It also builds water resilience through projects that support climate adaptation to droughts and floods, using a science-based system that protects water resources and ensures measurable, long-term results.
