Water Footprint Implementation hosted an inspiring book launch event for Stefaan Vandist’s new release, Provotyping, gathering water industry experts, environmental advocates, and curious attendees on October 31. The event was a unique blend of leadership on water sustainability, innovation, and creative solutions in the environmental sector, presented through insightful storytelling and visionary projects.
Introducing Water Footprint Implementation and the Coalition of the Willing
The event opened with a welcome introduction to Water Footprint Implementation (WFI) from our Managing Partner, Jaap Feil. Jaap introduced the concept of the Water Footprint Compensation Initiative, which seeks to help companies, governments, and organizations take responsibility for their water use by compensating for their impacts on global water resources. Highlighting this approach’s urgency, WFI pioneered the Coalition of the Willing, launched during the World Water Forum in Bali in May 2024.
Ap Verheggen and the SunGlacier Project: A Visionary Approach to Water Scarcity
Following the introduction to WFI, Ap Verheggen took the stage with a captivating presentation on his SunGlacier project. Known for his inventive, futuristic concepts, Ap explained how SunGlacier uses solar energy to extract water from the atmosphere, a revolutionary approach to addressing water scarcity in arid regions. The audience was drawn into Ap’s vision of how sustainable technologies like SunGlacier could transform global water security, particularly in vulnerable areas facing extreme water shortages.
Provotyping: Stefaan Vandist’s New Book on Innovation and Storytelling
The event’s final highlight was Stefaan’s presentation on Provotyping, where he shared his innovative approach combining Prototyping with a provocative edge. Through engaging stories, he demonstrated how Provotyping encourages bold experimentation and creative risk-taking, blending storytelling with design to inspire and transform ideas into real solutions. His storytelling captivated the audience, showcasing Provotyping as a powerful tool for innovators to test, iterate, and redefine their work.
A Celebration of Water Innovation and the Spirit of Collaboration
