Stay in the know
The new phase of water footprint compensation is in full development. With the collaboration of our partners new projects are starting, for example with VEI in Kenya.
In the week of 17 March, some of the Netherlands partners of Coalition of the Willing to develop the Water Footprint Compensation platform (CoW) are coming together for the Royal State Visit of the King and Queen of The Netherlands to Kenya. This visit includes a large water-related trade mission. The CoW will showcase the possibilities of the new compensation projects. In Kenya alone, three new Water Footprint Compensation projects are set to begin, focusing on Non-Revenue Water (NRW), water that is produced but not billed due to system losses.
These projects are spread across the county Nakuru, Kenya. Under the support of VEI (WaterWorx) the local companies are all committed to tackle NRW challenges. To evaluate the impact, we have calculated the CAPs (Credit Aqua Positive) for these initiatives. Example, for the company NAWASSCO the calculations give 3.18 CAPs per year from water savings, with a projected total of 15.92 CAPs over five years, including social and environmental co-benefits. This is 15.920.000 L of water.
The total of these three projects comes 68.2 CAPs over five years, this equals to 68.200.000 Liters.
